There is the cutest old abandoned mining town not too far from us here in AZ. It's called Jerome . It's set up high on the side of a mountain. Most of the buildings are original, but have been turned into art galleries and restaurants and cute little shops. It's a bit like a mixture of Jackson Hole and Park City (only TINY in comparison). It's relatively undiscovered most likely due to the fact that it's overshadowed by nearby Sedona Arizona and the red rocks. However, from Jerome, you have a fantastic view of it! We drove up in time for lunch and ate at "the Haunted Hamburger!" It was DELICIOUS! These hamburgers are HUGE! Then we walked all around inside the shops and galleries and enjoyed the beautiful view! Down the mountain a bit is the old mine owner's mansion. It has been restored and made into a museum/ state park. We spent a lot of time there taking photos and relaxing. Don't forget to visit my PHOTO BLOG to see more. It was the perfect little getaway-for-the-day spot. A much needed mini-vacation!
