Like the alliteration? I thought you would :)
Because Dillon's school district had this week off for "President's week," many of Dillon's friends were on vacation. Bummed out, Dillon asked me,
"Mom, why can't we ever go on vacation?"
I answered, "We just got back!"
After a brief, thoughtful moment, he returned, "THAT was NOT a vacation."
He's right! We had a long car- ride and saw family and they got to skiing, but really nothing about that trip felt like a vacation! It was so jam packed with wedding and family stuff that really it just felt stressful! Now, that being said, the wedding was amazing and went off without a hitch. The couple is now safely back from their honeymoon and happy as can be! Also, seeing all of our families is always so great. We miss them so much, so I don't want them to think that we didn't thoroughly appreciate the opportunity to "hang" with them for a while.

Instead of birthday parties, the boys got a day on Beaver Mountain Ski Resort with their Dad, cousin Matthew and uncle Ted!
They had a blast!
What better way to spend Valentines day, than at a wedding?? It was amazing! Of course, our family was in charge of the luncheon, which turned out to be a great experience. It was fun working with my dad again. We really make such a great team!! I gotta tell ya, I MISS working with flowers! Its so theraputic and rewarding. Especially red roses-- there's just something about them... they're sturdy, traditional and still the most romantic flower there is. ((((The flowers from the luncheon somehow ended up adorning the happy couple's honeymoon suite as well! ;0) ;0) ))))
Charlie and Dillon were angels. They were thrilled with the opportunities that this wedding provided them. First, to be in the temple - if even just the waiting room- was amazing to them. Second, they both had their own little ways of getting involved. At the luncheon, we had a microphone set up for toasting and roasting the happy couple. Many family members and friends shared their thoughts and wishes. Charlie couldn't let the chance pass him by and eventually convinced aunt Haley to take him up there and lift him up high enough so he could get the job done right.
He said, "Dave and Amy- congrats guys. Amy- you're really pretty and welcome to the family! I love you guys. AMEN." -just like a little man. It was a "proud momma moment."
Dillon appointed himself Dave's sidekick. He remained by his uncles side during the reception and every so often reminded him how pretty Amy was and that she was welcome in our family.
Lastly, all the kids were asked to participate in the ring ceremony by walking down the aisle before the bride. Dillon was supposed to walk Annabelle and Charlie was going to walk with the Amy's niece, but Annabelle was having a really rough time. She did not want to cooperate, so Charlie and Dillon both walked her down- one on each side and she was fine. It was another "proud momma moment." I hope someone has a picture of that for me! My eyes were full of tears!
We decided a trip to the San Diego zoo was as close as we were going to get to a real vacation this year. Here are some shots of the cute little wild animals-
